Manual colony defense

Something I think would be cool is if you could manually participate in colony defense when you are inside ur colony and somebody attacks. You could make it possible to take control of ur solar and aim and fire it urself (only if u happen to be in ur colony). That way, if u get a message that someone is attacking, u can warp to that colony and blow the sh*t our of them with ur solar.

I know u can already sort of do this with ur ship, but I think it would be cool to be able to control ur solar.

Yes! I was thinking hte same thing.

Impractical maybe but still it would be fun.

Hmm, it would add depth to both defense and invading...might be tough to implement a good system for manning the solar though.

i think they should remove splash damage from your solar so you could participate by being on the surface without instantly dying to your own defenses.

This idea is great. I would love to shot my enemies with a solar. Make it medium and if you are good at math, you can kick donkey!

oooohw sweet lets hope the universe get smaller and smaller so there are actually players landing on my colony! and lets hope that once you try to shoot them with your solar that magically some glue apears so they wont leave the planet!

wouldnt work, no way. maybe on a verry small map in for example blitzkriegs.

otherwise? nope sorry no way.

(altough i do very much like the idea, allot!)

great idea but it needs a poll. oh and it might be a nice idea to beable control the lasers

perhaps all lasers as a whole on the map but individual lasers would suck.

BAD IDEA. Let's say someone places the biodome in a corner, the solar is a 120-spm 10-shot. Only 1 place to get into the dome, keep firing at that spot and the colony will be literally impossible to take.

Well, then thats some damn good work on the players part. And besides, hes got to sleep somtime.

lazers shouldnt be controlable.

no only the solar, or nothing at all.

lazers and solar isnt viable, it defo makes it uninvadable when controling them.

next to that we already have a issue with lazer lagg, imaging how much laazerlagg there would be if you controll them then, no way.

but the soplar yeah, go ahead and make a poll

give a few options:

1 make solar controllable
2 make solar controllable but with a max of 5 shots in wide spread or lower in shots and/or less density
3 option 1 and/or 2 but only in small mapsized servers
4 lets drink some beer
5 no dont make it controllable

Controlling em would make less laser lag...

Currently, lasers INDIVIDUALLY calculate the ship's position, velocity, distance, and such to fire where the player is going to be, same with the sol cannon, its a very long string of calculations.

Controlling would be easier as you can plainly see

it'd be more efficient if the solar stayed automated and the person who was meant to be in control of the solar was actually flying around the planet shooting people even more.

just my opinion.

It should be that you can shoot by going into the solar cannon screen and pressing a button. (like: CONTROL SOLAR)

- Much like the "To Soace and "To planet" buttons

Only problem is that the splash damage patches have changed that to a fast track to Sol. :( It be nice to go back to having some way to manually defend your col when you wish, either in your ship or aimed solar fire.
