[IDEA] SGE Fraps
As many of us know, when recording with FRAPS and trying to invade, it can get a bit laggy. My suggestion would be a proprietary FRAP like program, built into the game, that would allow players to record whatever they want to record, and then post them to the forums, youtube, or wherever you folks post them at.
Alt-R : Record
Alt-Shift : Stop
/savevideoas invade_vid_1 : save your video to a specific filename
I'm not sure how much programming it would take to do this, but I know that some games on the market have had this type of program built into it for many versions over the years. A personal favorite of mine is in the NASCAR series. You can record an entire 500 mile race and save it to one big file.

I have a lot better diea.
Have a "game action recorder". It's a system that records everything that's happening on the screen. But not frame per frame but object per objet.
Example:
Player thrusts forward 2.14 seconds at an angle of 15°.
Lasers 15 to 22 start firing at time index 03:15.
Of course in code or something.
This way is a lot more easy going on the computer's resources.
Then later on you can just run an off-line vesion of the game engine which replays the action on the screen and exports it as avi or something.

I posted something like this a while, and it's still a good idea. Once you have the replay snapshot you could run it with fraps at the highest quality you want without any disturbance, there's not even a need for PTT to deal with any video encoding or that whole mess.MadAce wrote:I have a lot better diea.
