[IDEA] Extra money for new players

I noticed a lot of new players coming on starport and shouting how its so boring and begging for money every 5 minutes. A good way to fix this would be to give them extra tutorial missions that will give them some money to play with and keep them interested in playing. I'm thinking 5 more tutorial missions that'll give them 1-2 million credits.

This Idea is for permaverse's only.

The tutorials need to be more detailed. I think they give newbies enough information to get them in trouble, but not enough to explain more of the basic functions. If we train them better they would ask less questions and be happier in the long run.

Even if the tutorials allowed the new players to repeat them up to 5 times for extra credits it would help. Expand the current "dock, trade, warp" to include more complex and interesting features. Let them visit a Starbase and put a bounty on someone, purchase defenses, trade ships, and test various weapons while in Sol. Put one in there about accessing information for the Starpedia, and finding several specific commands within the Starpedia. Have them use the most basic /r /s /c commands and also make them add a contractor and remove them.

Basic ideas that could be expanded to include:

*Contractors (How to add/remove)
*How to sell buildings
*How to set solar (see the effects different settings make)
*How to purchase/trade a ship
*How to use scanners
*Weapons tutorial
*Defense Tutorial
*Reading ownership of a colony/with tons
*Understanding NPC's
*Warning signs for Merchants when trading
*Accepting an escort/failing an escort. Escort help commands
*Finding artifacts
*Drink benefits (Half off Inn Captain's Stash, ect)
*How to use the chat functions /s /r /c
* How to form a Corporation/change CEO/Remove corpmates
*How to give colony or take colony commands
*Changing a colony name
*Fight an NPC
*Hailing resources/trading in system between players
*Using Dex/Wisdom/Charisma

These are just examples of many of the newbie issues. If they could earn a ship or money from completing the tasks then they benefit and vets wouldn't have to answer all the questions not referenced in the brief tutorial. The tutorial should be accessible for the first few weeks of game play.

I completely agree with all of this. It's the same kind of thing is needed along with my ideas to duel you're defences, and the revised dueling system.

And FORCE the noobs to sit down and take the time to learn the game, if they quit before the tutorial's end, then they didn't really care about the game to begin with (hmmm, kit's been gone after proposing his mega nerf, makes me wonder if all the noobs who do come, only come to ruin the game further. Then they quit after their work is done). It would also serve the purpose of barring out most the worthless leeches.

I'd agree with everything here but Talak's forced tutorial completion. After going through the steps a dozen or more times, you'd want to skip it if it wasn't very profitable for the 30 minutes you 'must' burn. Also, if you already have been playing for a while and know what you're doing, this could seem a solid impediment. I'll agree with Talak's idea as long as there's a way to toggle the tutorial off for your account, after having completed it at least once.

Force them to do it once yeah. Sorry for not adding that, but still with this measure, we remove the worthless beggars and noobs who ruin the game for new players actually wanting to learn how to play the game.

I love that I kind skip the tutorial, I've played long enough that I don't need to be forced to do it everytime I reinstall thanks.
