BUG: Program exits to desktop after load

So as i understand this bug the game shows the Loading bar and then before it can show the Login Window, it immediately exits to desktop?

Is this still happening to anyone?

I am going to try and play SGE with my work laptop which uses Windows Vista as an OS, it might be an XP problem since many people who can not login to the game seem to have XP as an OS, I will let you know how it works out in the near future.

yes it would be good to determine, if we could, what it is about some people's machines that causes it, as opposed to the majority who seem to not have the problem.

Yep I get to the login problem without a problem on my Vista laptop, seems to be an XP issue

Well I did not configure my work laptop so I can not really tell you much about it, Windows Vista running on 2 GB RAM it uses the same wireless connection as my regular XP laptop so I would not really know what the issue could be :S.

Maybe you used some feature in the latest patch that is not (properly) supported by windows XP?

The only other difference between my 2 laptops is that I never installed SGE on the Vista before.

Have you guys tryed reinstalling starport it self and see if that works

yes i have windows xp and i still cant get to the login page.i have tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling it.and ive restarted my computer.
this is a very bad bug considering i cant defend/clean my cols

I've tried restoring my computer to a save-point 5 months ago. I've tried reinstalling the game. Neither of these solutions worked... what computer specs should i post that would be helpful to fixing this?

It's an intel core(tm)2 duo ; T7500 @ 2.2 ghz ; 2.19 ghz, 1.98 GB RAM ; windows xp professional edition

Ok i put up a new patch. If the problem still happens, i need you to explore "My Computer" to your c:\Program Files\StarportGE directory and look for a file called "crash.log". I need you to send that file to me at support@starportgame.com or paste the contents of that file (its just a text file you can open it with Notepad) to a post here on the forum.

Download the installer off the website and reinstall it. It worked for me.

i got a file called socket, font error(just says could not creat font courier), packets, lots of patches, data file, client, colors.i need to know where exactly the file should be or be near in the StarportGE folder because atm i cant find anything i even had my computer search for it

I just downloaded the installer. But now I have to warn everyone: DOWNLOAD FROM THE PLAYTECHTONICS MIRROR. Because I just downloaded the CNET download and got to download a shitload of patches and after that everything was reset and the game still showed the same error message GAH

I'm currently downloading the playtechtonics version, I'll give an update after I check.

edit: can't update right now, none of the servers responding xD

same problem, deleted every trace of sge and reinstalled 3 times, and same message, out of date.
i might be forced to go clean my house or something
