If you are having trouble launching the game or patching, try downloading the install file from the Playtechtonics Mirror at http://www.starportgame.com/download.php then run that file to re-install, and then run the game off that install.
Hopefully that should clear up the problem.

my problem is when i start the game with windows 7, its very draggy. feels like its .5 frames per second. I thought it was maybe the firewall, but I turned it off and still have the same problem.

You might try switching between fullscreen and windowed mode. And you can also try adding a line of text to your client.cfg file that says offscreen=true which is an option that sometimes helps particularly with ATI video cards.

ehhh. i have windows 7, and i dont have that problem? i did once.. idk what the problem was because my connection was good. but for the most part ive had no problem.

I added that line of text and on my laptop things started to look more like my desktop used to. I've never gotten used to playing on a laptop but now I have no choice if I'm going to play.
